Great Lakes believes safety takes the highest priority and as a result, we take a very proactive approach in providing a safe work environment.
The bottom line for Great Lakes is preventing accidents and injuries. This is accomplished not only by complying with laws and standards, but also by having every employee evaluate and eliminate potential hazards seen each day. We do not believe that our safety goals can be obtained through company policies alone. A safe work environment can be achieved through the conscientious efforts of all of us. Supported with top management commitment, proper policies and procedures, and employee involvement, our safety culture becomes dynamic and continues to improve our safe work environment.
Our dedication to safety has allowed Great Lakes to be self-insured for workers compensation in the State of Ohio since 1976. Our two full-time Safety Compliance Officers report directly to the President of Great Lakes. This ensures that all projects are being run in a safe manner.
Great Lakes has enrolled in the OSHA VPP Challenge Pilot Program. This program will enhance our safety culture and philosophy through management leadership, worksite analysis, hazard prevention and control, and safety health and training. Working together, we can educate our employees to eliminate worksite hazards and reach our goal of ZERO incidents.
