I-80 Roadway – Bridges (Joint Venture)
Jackson & Austintown Township, Ohio
Great Lakes Construction in a joint venture will be constructing four sets of twin bridges for Mainline I-80 and a bikeway tunnel under I-80. The main structures crossing the Meander Reservoir are over 2,500’ long, supported by 640 18” diameter reinforced concrete piles at the piers and 112 14” diameter concrete piles at the abutments.

I-77 Reconstruction
Akron, Ohio
I-77 from V.ODOM to Ghent Road will be reconstructed. The project will be broken down into 5 parts and will consist of extensive noise walls, 3rd lane construction, 9 bridges, asphalt resurfacing, and ramp work on I-77 and SR 18, Cleveland-Massillon Road, White Pond Drive and portions of ramps at Copley.

Emergency Repairs
Broadview Hts., Ohio
Recent flooding in Broadview Heights caused an old 8' stone culvert over the Chippewa Creek that was 40' deep to fail closing Broadview Road. The City contacted GLC and we began that night and worked around the clock including the weekend to reopen the flow and stabilize the situation. GLC has since replaced the 40' of stone culvert with 108" diameter concrete pipe and will backfill and repave the roadway before reopening the roadway.

Morgan East Reservoir
Cleveland, Ohio
Demolishing existing concrete foundations & wood piling, constructing a 240 lf by 60-90’ deep concrete solider pile excavation wall w/306 tie-backs. The 15 million gallon tank foundation is composed of 403 drilled piles ranging from 30” to 60” diameter by 80’ deep. Tank measures 365’ wide by 330’ long by 22’ high using 25,000 CYD of self consolidating concrete, making form work a challenging endeavor. Also installing flanged steel tank piping, buried piping, and 300 LF of 48” DIP laid 12-27’ deep through the north side of the West Shoreway slope.

US-20 Reconstruction
Painesville Township, Ohio
Complete reconstruction of two miles along US-20 between the Mentor city limits and SR-44. The existing three-lane concrete, brick, and asphalt roadway will be removed and widened to five lanes of 9" non-reinforced concrete. Drainage improvements include 25,000 LF of storm sewer, with almost one mile of elliptical pipe. The 50,000+ CY of excavation includes the development of a two acre detention basin for the new sewers. Other improvements are stamped/colored concrete sidewalks and new traffic signals.

I-71 Noise Wall (Design/Build)
Cleveland, Ohio
Great Lakes Construction will be teaming up with Chagrin Valley Engineers to complete the design/build noisewall project on I-71. The project has 229,000 SF of brick patterned concrete walls. The noise barriers will be installed northbound and southbound between West 150th Street and Bellaire Avenue.

Bridge Rehabilitation
Youngstown, Ohio
Rehabilitate the Spring Common Bridge. The 424’ three span bridge crosses the Mahoning River, NS Railroad and West Front St. in downtown Youngstown. Major items of work on this project are the replacement of the existing decks & sidewalks, structural steel repair and painting of the structural steel.

Whiskey Island Bridge
Cleveland, Ohio
Demolish a portion of the Whiskey Island Bridge over two RR tracks and next to one RR track. The project will include 7,750 SF of sheetpile and 5,750 LF of H pile; setting pre-fabricated pedestrian and vehicular bridges w/concrete abutments. The associated widening of Whiskey Island Drive will improve pedestrian and vehicle access to the Whiskey Island Marina and Wendy Park.

US-6 Bascule Bridge
Lorain, Ohio
Rehabilitate the Bascule Bridge which carries Erie Street (U.S Route 6) over the Black River. The project will repair and upgrade many varied and unique aspects of this very unusual lift bridge. Among the many items are machinery rehab, gear cleaning and inspection, control tower window replacement and counterweight balancing.
